Equipping students to drive change
by Mike Raab, executive director of The Garage
One thing is for certain, innovation and entrepreneurship thrive on change, and The Garage equips students to not only recognize opportunities, but to be a driving force in effecting change.

We’ve already seen the collapse in barriers for students with ideas to be able to bring them to life — creating real products, solving real problems and building real businesses. The number of students who have the opportunity and capability to do so is only going to grow, and I expect an even larger percentage of Northwestern students and alumni to be entrepreneurs 25 years from now.
This potential for growth is what excites me about leading The Garage into the future. What used to take immense capital and expertise to build is now possible for a first-time founder with almost no funding. What is necessary is a supportive community of builders with interdisciplinary experience and access to a network willing to guide young innovators. That is what we’ve built at The Garage, and the reason The Garage at Northwestern was recently ranked the No. 1 university incubator in the country by Time magazine.
